WHO AM I?
Hello there! I'm Matt, a semi-professional photographer looking to phase out the "semi-" part. Like a lot of people, I've worked side gigs in the past to make ends meet and a big part of that was catering weddings. Despite loving photography, it took an embarrassing number of years before one day I looked at the wedding photographer doing their thing and went, Hey, I can do that! So now I'm trying to do that!
WHAT SERVICES DO I OFFER?
Ideally, I would like to balance doing work as a second-shooter for another wedding photographer for the experience while doing smaller scale weddings as the principle photographer. My target client for the latter would be those couples who want great photos but don't have the budget to hire an established pro, who on average for the Baltimore area charge $4,000 and up. I also offer couple and family portraiture. Equestrian lifestyle photography is another genre I'm especially interested in.
HOW MUCH DO I CHARGE?
Standard practice here would be to create a section titled "Investment" as a euphemism to soften the blow of realizing how much this service typically costs, but I'm not here to send you staggering to the fainting couch. What does that mean for you? Well, I'm still deciding on the specifics - for now, let's say my cost will be much less than you fear and a tiny bit more than you're hoping for. HOW MANY WEDDINGS HAVE I SHOT?
As the actual lead photographer? Just one, sad to say. I had a whole multi-year plan worked out - and then COVID-19 happened. As someone with a pre-condition, I didn't have the motivation to press forward then, but now I'm trying again. That said, the knowledge gap going from your first wedding to your second is vastly smaller than going from never having shot one to shooting your first. So I at least have that...
DO I USE PROFESSIONAL GEAR?
Yes! I use "full frame" mirrorless camera equipment, primarily from Sony. If that statement made no sense, just know there are certain advantages for this type of camera, such as being able to shoot silently - in other words, no CLACK CLACK CLACK while taking photos during your intimate ceremony. I have multiple camera bodies, numerous lenses, flashes, etc.
